I don't roleplay, but I'm thinking of writing novelizations of the games, and there aren't many characters in the first two games, especially Prophecies, that I can use to represent the player's role, so I use some of the more memorable henchmen, and make some up, using the names of my characters in the game. In the end, the characters have little to do with their namesakes.
Bergil Sunfyre (Ranger/Elementalist) identifies more with animals then people. This can be seen in both his appearence (he's a mess), and in his personality. He will pursue his goals forever, if given to the opportunity, no matter how impossible or foolish they are, and has no problem with sticking out like a sore thumb. It has been said that he lacks common sense. He says that trying to fit in is a lack of common sense.
He was originally a charr* (Okay, scientifically he still is, but he changed sides), and hates Bonfaaz Burntfur (leader of the Charr, in case you forget), who forced his mother to (among other things) go to Orr, and threw him out of the Charr High Council (the High council had no real power, and exists only to agree unanimously with whatever Burntfur said. That is how Bergil- who already disliked Burntfur- ever got appointed.) for thinking he could disagree with the Searing, which he viewed as Burntfur trying to prove himself more powerful then nature. For this reason, Bergil took the first opportunity to betray the Charr, which lead to Burntfur's death, but also made him universally hated among the Charr, and forced him to join the Ascalons fleeing across the Shiverpeaks.
Emmet Bloodhawk (Assasain/Mesmer) is literally and figuratively a fast talker. In conversation as in battle, he never gets pinned down, and avoids being hit by the full force of anything. A lot of people have said that they're glad to have him on their side, because Emmet Bloodhawk gone bad is a very scary thought.
Before he went to the Shing Jea monestary, he spent some time in the Jade sea. No-one's quite sure what he was doing there, but he has hinted at several (mutually contradictive) impressive deeds. He also claims that his odd way of talking is a combination of Kaineng and Luxon accents, though it's possible that he has a speech problem and doesn't admit it.
Gnaisf the Screamer (Necromancer/Paragon) is a cynic. He doesn't fully trust anyone with power, and enjoys talking about how he'd do things better, though since his entire worldview in founded upon him having someone more important to criticize, and if he ever gained a title, he probably wouldn't know what to do. He also likes art, sepecially music, which he sees as a purer form of philosophy then politics, and has an annoying habit of humming. He puts more effort into minions made from people he respets.
He doesn't really have a compelling backstory, he just joined the Ascalon Vanguard* because he thought to become famous, and have more people listen to him.
What do you think?
*denotes somthing that cannot possibly be true of the character in the game.
